How does pricing work? Do I set my own prices?

Yes, you have full control. Set base prices for each service and define pricing dimensions (like vehicle size, property type, condition) with multipliers. The pricing engine calculates quotes automatically. You can also add flat-rate add-ons, package discounts, and conditional surcharges for distance, weekends, or after-hours work.

How does payment processing work?

BookingMachine uses Stripe Connect. Customers pay via credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Funds go directly to your Stripe account minus a small platform fee. Stripe handles all card processing and compliance — you never handle card numbers.

Do I need to connect Stripe right away?

No. You can set up your account, configure services, and receive bookings without Stripe. The payment step simply won't appear in the widget. Connect Stripe when you're ready to accept online payments.

Which website platforms does the widget work with?

The widget works on virtually any website. Tested on WordPress (including Elementor, Divi, and other page builders), Wix, Squarespace, Weebly, GoDaddy, Shopify, and plain HTML. It uses Shadow DOM for style isolation, so it won't conflict with your site's CSS.

Can I use BookingMachine without a website?

Absolutely. Every account includes a shareable booking page and a hosted microsite. Put the link in your Instagram bio, WhatsApp status, Facebook page, Google Business Profile, or text it to clients.

Is there a mobile app?

A mobile app is on our roadmap. In the meantime, the dashboard is fully responsive and works great on mobile browsers. Add it to your home screen for an app-like experience.

How is my data protected?

All data is stored on secure servers with encrypted connections (HTTPS everywhere). Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe — card numbers never touch our servers. Each business account is fully isolated. We use secure authentication with password hashing and support Google OAuth.

What are the differences between plans?

Free: 25 bookings/mo, 1 team member, microsite, quotes & invoices. Pro ($19/mo or $14/mo annual): unlimited bookings, 2 members, Stripe payments, analytics, Google Calendar, 2 locations. Business ($49/mo or $34/mo annual): 15 members, 6 locations, API access, benchmarks, priority support. See our pricing page for the full comparison.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes. Downgrade or cancel from Dashboard > Billing at any time. If you cancel, your account reverts to the Free plan. Your data, bookings, and customer records are preserved.

How many team members can I add?

Free: 1 (owner only). Pro: 2. Business: 15. Need more? Contact us for a custom plan.

Can I collect deposits and charge the balance later?

Yes. Configure a deposit percentage in Settings > Policies. Customers pay the deposit at booking. After service, collect the balance via payment link or mark as paid for cash/check payments.

Does the widget slow down my website?

No. The embed loader is ~2KB and loads asynchronously. The full widget bundle (<40KB gzipped) is lazy-loaded. Stripe payment elements load only at the payment step.

Can I accept bookings from multiple sources?

Yes. Bookings come from your widget, booking page link, manual creation in the dashboard, and recurring rules. All appear in the same booking list with unified customer data.

What happens if two customers try to book the same time slot?

BookingMachine uses advisory locks to prevent double-bookings. Only one booking succeeds; the other customer sees a message to pick a different time. Available slots update in real time.

Can customers leave reviews?

Yes. After a booking is completed, an automatic review request email is sent. Customers can leave a star rating, written comment, and photos. Reviews appear on your booking page and microsite.

Do you offer annual billing?

Yes. Annual billing saves up to 31%. Pro: $14/mo billed annually (save $60/yr). Business: $34/mo billed annually (save $180/yr). Switch between monthly and annual at any time.

What if I need help setting things up?

Contact us via the contact form, email, or the in-app help center. We have step-by-step guides for embedding the widget, setting up payments, and more. Most businesses are set up in under 5 minutes. Business plan includes 1-to-1 setup support.

Can I use a custom domain?

Yes, on Pro plans and above. Point a subdomain (e.g. book.yourbusiness.com) to BookingMachine via CNAME record. SSL is provisioned automatically. See the Custom Domain Setup guide.

Is there an activity log?

Yes. BookingMachine keeps a detailed activity log of all key actions — bookings, quotes, payments, team changes, and more. View it at Dashboard > Activity.
