BookingMachine for Shopify

Add Service Booking to Your Shopify Store

Sell appointments, call-outs and jobs next to your products. Paste one line of code into a Custom Liquid section and customers can get a price, choose a time and pay a deposit on a page of your store.

Add the booking widget to a Shopify page

You need a theme with a Custom Liquid section, which most current Shopify themes have. If yours does not, the theme documentation will say where custom HTML can go, or you can use the button method further down.

  1. Copy your embed code

In your BookingMachine dashboard, open the Widget page and copy the embed code. It is a single line.

  2. Create a page for bookings

In the Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Pages, and add a page called Book or Services. Give it its own template if you want the widget on that page only.

  3. Open the theme editor

Go to Online Store, then Themes, and click Customize. Use the page selector at the top to open the page you created.

  4. Add a Custom Liquid section

Click Add section, choose Custom Liquid, paste the embed code into the field and save.

What the embed code looks like

<script src="https://bookingmachine.io/embed.js" data-business="your-business" async></script>

Yours has your own business name in it. Copy it from the Widget page in your dashboard rather than from here.

A Book Now button on every page

To show a floating Book Now button across the store, add a Custom Liquid section to the footer group in the theme editor and paste in the floating version of the code. It then appears on every page that uses that footer.

Floating button code

Prefer not to touch the theme?

Add a link to your BookingMachine booking link in the store navigation, or on a button in any section. Customers book on your hosted booking page and return to the store afterwards.

Shopify Booking Questions

Do bookings go through Shopify checkout?

No. Booking payments are taken by the widget through Stripe and paid out to your bank. Product orders keep going through Shopify checkout as before. The two do not interfere with each other.

Is there a BookingMachine app in the Shopify App Store?

Not at present. The embed code does not need one: it works in any theme that accepts custom HTML or Liquid.

Will the widget slow my store down?

The embed code loads a small script after the page, and the booking form itself only loads when it is needed, so it does not hold up your product pages.

Can I show a different widget on different pages?

Yes. Create a widget per service or location in BookingMachine and paste each one into the Custom Liquid section of its own page template.

On a different website builder?
