How to price a deep clean so it pays for the time it takes.

A regular clean keeps a home where it is. A deep clean gets it there: inside cupboards, behind and under the appliances, baseboards, door frames, limescale, grout and the build-up a regular visit never reaches. It takes longer, often a lot longer, and the price has to follow the hours or the job loses money.

Say what is included in the description of the service. A customer who knows the inside of the oven is an extra does not expect it, and one who wants it adds it before they book.

Two homes the same size can be very different jobs. A price variable for condition handles it without a site visit: ask when the home was last cleaned professionally, with answers such as within a month, a few months ago, or longer, and give each answer a percentage. Customers answer it honestly more often than you would expect, because the question is plain.

If a home turns out to be far beyond its answer, you can still change the price before the clean. The form gets you close; it does not take the decision away from you.

Many cleaners make the first visit for a new regular a deep clean, then move the customer to the regular price. Offer both services on the same form and the customer sees why the first visit costs more.
